Mostly video game reviews, news and media (such as screenshots and videos). For more information about us, visit the About page. Q. How do I become a member? Is it free? A. Becoming a member is fast, easy and free! Just head over to the Registration Page to sign up. Once you're a member you can create your profile, leave comments on news stories and reviews and head over to the Q. What games do you review? A. Here at GameCollision.com we focus on delivering all the content we possibly can for the most anticipated games. We don't bother reviewing games that few people are interested in. We don't waste our/your time reviewing or hyping up shovelware. We're not saying we only review guaranteed triple A titles, because that would be pretty boring to say the least. But if there's no excitement among the community for a specific game, we probably won't take the time to cover it. This will allow us to focus all of our attention on the games everyone is interested in. Q. How are the reviews done? What about multiplatform reviews? A. Our written reviews provide an in depth look at a certain game. We cover all the basics such as visuals, audio, story, gameplay, and entertainment value. After factoring everything in, we give the game a final score, out of 10. Check out our detailed Ratings Guide to see how we break everything down. Most importantly though, we tell you how much fun we had with it. After all, the amount of fun had while playing a game is really what makes it worth playing. Even so, we at GameCollision have played it all, and we know what makes a good game and a bad game. Someone can enjoy the hell out of a game, but that doesn't mean everyone else is going to enjoy it as well. We try to be as non-biased as possible and we try our hardest to present the facts along with our opinion. Basically what we ask ourselves is "how many players are really going to enjoy this game?", "what are the problems this game has, and does it effect the amount of fun we had with it?". I've played plenty of triple A titles that I just plain didn't enjoy. Does that mean I'm going to let only my opinion of the game allow me to give it a lower score than it deserves? Absolutely not. This goes both ways among reviewers today, and unfortunately many review sites have lost sight of what's really important. At GameCollision, this is what we strive to retain. As for reviews of multiplatform games, most will be completely identical. Current generation games are finally reaching the point where we don't have to keep asking 'which version is better?'. There are still some cases where one will be better than the other, and in that case we'll tell you what the differences are. Q. How are the video reviews done? A. Along with almost every written review of a game will come a video review. These provide a brief overview of our time with the game, summed up in a five to ten minute video. We'll touch on all the important aspects of our written review, while providing visuals from the game. Our video reviews are presented in Flash format in both High Definition 720P and Standard Definition (640x480). They are also available to download in higher quality, in Windows Media and QuickTime formats. Q. When do the reviews go up A. Reviews typically go up within a few days to a week after a game has been released. It takes us a few days to play through and review the game. Sometimes for higher profile games we will get it up a bit sooner, if possible. Video reviews will generally not go up the same day as the written reviews. They are usually posted a few days after (usually the following weekend) after the written review goes up. Q. What about podcasts? A. We try to do podcasts pretty frequently (at least once every two weeks), just to discuss site news, recent reviews or important gaming news in general. Q. How do I become a part of the site? A. Become active! Post comments, create/participate in discussions, contribute news and material, whatever you want! Eventually we'll find the need to have more site moderators and reviewers and when that time comes, we'll first be looking at active members in our community. Q. Can I post content to the site? A. Yes! Registered users have the ability to post personal blogs as well as submit news articles to the site. Blogs can be used for anything really and the only limitation is that you cannot post inappropriate images or anything that can be seen as personally offensive (racism, homophobia, etc.). News Articles will immediately be submitted to an administrator for review. If the article is well written and is considered newsworthy, it will be posted to the site. Keep in mind, spelling and grammar are important and you must always provide a valid source for all information. Users can also rate and write user reviews for games. You can do this on the actual game's page. |
