Grand Theft Auto 4 - PS3 Downloadable Content Confirmed

As we all know, the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto 4 will be getting exclusive downloadable content sometime after the game's release. As of now though, nothing has been announced for the PS3. Well an article in the latest version of PlayStation World Magazine states that the PS3 will indeed be getting downloadable content. This information comes straight from GTA 4's senior developer, Jeronimo Barrera. No details were given, unfortunately, but that alone is still good news.

Everything after that is purely speculation. The article talks about two possible scenarios, one being that Microsoft only paid for timed exclusivity and the PS3 will eventually be getting the same thing. The other, more realistic scenario, is that the downloadable content will be in the form of PlayStation Home unlockables. Considering that almost every game from here out will have some sort of Home-integration (most being game-themed wallpapers, furniture, etc.), that does make a lot of sense.

you're forgetting that microsoft lost money in the first 8 months due to xbox's overheating, they spent over 100 million dollars replacing them when they first came out, did sony? no they didn't because they waited till most of the bugs were fixed. I'm no saying that the ps3 is perfect but it will outsell the 360 in 6 months

CELL is MORE powerful than cpu

i have a xbox 360.my friend has a ps3..when i was playing gta 4 on it i can honestly say it looked better on the ps3. and it only took 6 mins for the install. which i believe makes it look better. and the blu-ray disk alone, has more gigs than the whole xbox 360. i just think it runs smoother on the ps3.

Seriously, do some research and get your facts straight. 360's 3 core cpu has symetrical cores, (i know u have no clue what this is) and threfore it makes good games easier to develop. And the unified shader architecture of the 360 (GPU) makes the older 360 graphics card superior to the nVida GPU in ur PS3. Dont take my word for it. Look it up. Try Google. And when it comes to games, it matters what the system can do..NOW... not potentially, after 5 years when the system is useless. Oh.. and try pointing out a game that shows us why the PS3 is superior.. Good luck with that one. Finaly, before making the effort of sliding your 12 year old fingers over the keyboard, check stuff before you type. PS3 is superior... Shitbox this, shitbox that... Stop being so jealous and trying to justify the money you forked out for ur PS3 by flaming on boards.

Reply; are you serious??? You'd have to be an idiot to seriously believe that. Of course it matters what the potential of a console is, sure 5 years down the road is ridiculous, but 6 to 12 months is extremely important. Now, I am still of the opinion that, right now, the 360 is the console to have, but it's lead over PS3 is dwindling...FAST! 360 enjoyed great exclusive games like Ace Combat 6, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Gears of War(little farther back) while PS3 owners really had nothing...maybe resistance. And games that were released on both consoles were generally better on 360 (especially sports games.) But with some major releases coming up for PS3, I believe things are going to change, soon. Yes I know Gears of War 2 is coming soon, but that is about it for 360.

you said something about the red rings of death on 360. i have a ps3 and you have to watch out for 8002f147. when i updated my ps3 this code came up and now i had to send it back to sony. i googled that code and alot of people are having the same problem. so be careful when updating your ps3. if i could do it all over again i would'nt have got a ps3

Oh and I've never seen the Red Ring, sorry. Plus, the nex Xbox 360's that are manufactured are more reliable than any PS3. I know two friends who have sent their Playstation to be fixed recently but, their Xbox still works. Microsoft has made big strides in making their system more reliable but, Sony's system need to do a twenty minute install just to play the gta 4 and it takes up 3 gigs? I have better use for my hard drive space than it being taken up just to play a game. Like exclusive downloadble content this fall, sorry Gaystation owners.

It seems everyone forgets about how PS2's broke down left and right. Every Sony Fanboy back then was screaming "Playstation has way more games!!" Now the 360 has more games and has had problems with reliability and the sony fanboys sing a different tune. Make up your minds you stupid little ass clowns. I have the Xbox because microsoft has never let me down. Sony on the other hand, has let me down with the PS2 and all their other products including DVD players and home theatre. Needs better online support and needs to get rid of all those crappy ass manditory installs the games have to do, just to keep up with the 360's loading times.

Ummm, everyone I know that has both XBox and PS3 agree that PS3 is way better. #1 you don't have to pay to play online. Microsoft is just ripping people off, plus there is so much you can do with PS3 it's hard to imagine any limits. XBox is last generation gameplay. PS3 is the future. I had a page long comment documenting factual statements that could sway any intelligent person to quit being a fanboy (except those "don't be a fanyboy" fanboys) but I don't think there is enough people here that would read it, so I'll sink to the median level here.

Sony's a medium to further Blueray and finally get one of their media types accepted in the consumer world. The PS3 is not much else. Fanboys can argue, I don't care. Enough developers have shown disdain for the PS3's programming and hardware architecture that it's not even funny. Hell Sony itself still hasn't perfected it's development tools. Maybe when that's done we'll have more than 1 or 2 worthwhile exclusives. For the "Xbox is a PC boys", Sony sure made it a point to make their consoles as close to pc's and linux ready as possible.
