Phil Harrison left Sony a couple weeks ago and we didn't hear much from him after that. Everyone was kind of wondering where he was going. Well, today it was announced that he is the new president of Infogrames. His goals for the company seemed to revolve around creating casual and family-oriented games.
Harrison said:
"This is the perfect time to join Infogrames and help shape the future of Atari - one of the industry's legendary brands. As the game business moves rapidly online I believe we have an outstanding opportunity to create amazing network game and community experiences for players the world over."
Apparently Infogrames is more than willing to give it a shot, seeing as they've completely re-outlined their business strategy. They said they eventually want to become an industry leader in the online gaming market.
David Nadal (boss of Eden Games and current head of Atari's Alone in the Dark 5 project) had this to say:
"I don't know Phil very well, but what I know about his job and what he's done in the past, he has very strong feelings about games and where the industry should go,"
Apparently everyone is pretty excited about having Phil on board. Let's hope all goes well for him.
